PRESENTATION OF THE  DOCTORAL SCHOOL  IN ADMINISTRATIVE SCIENCES DOMAIN :

THE STUDY PROGRAM : ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT IN THE PUBLIC AND NONGOVERMENTAL SECTOR

The history of administrative sciences studies at ASE Bucharest began in 1995 when the “Public Administration” specialization was established within the Faculty of Management. In 2003, the Department of Public Administration and Management was founded, and in 2010, the Faculty of Administration and Public Management (FAPM) was created, aiming to change the vision of the public servant profession and promote a new generation of leaders in public administration who are prepared and determined to implement both modern public management principles and the values of the European administrative space.

Thus, the mission of Faculty of Administration and Public Mangement (FAPM)  is to create an educational and interdisciplinary research context conducive to forming future elites in the economic-social and administrative environment by developing specific skills and competencies in the field of administrative sciences, capable of responding to economic, social, and environmental challenges in the context of globalization. The values on which this mission is built are: continuity, professionalism, responsibility, innovation, quality, sustainability, solidarity, creativity, and transparency. In conducting teaching and research activities, members of the academic community at FAPM also embrace the values found in the university management plan: “rigor in university activities; assuming responsibility, ensuring credibility, accepting the consequences of one’s actions; dedication to truth, honesty, integrity, and honor; passion and enthusiasm in educational and research activities.”

Since 2019, the bachelor’s degree program in “Public Administration” has been accredited by the European Association for Public Administration Accreditation (EAPAA)

The creation of the field of doctoral university studies “Administrative Sciences” within ASE Bucharest allows the continued professional development of graduates of bachelor’s and master’s studies in public administration and public management.

The field of doctoral university studies “Administrative Sciences” represents a research domain within the social sciences, which has as its central point of study and research Public Administration, in a narrow sense,as well as the public and non-governmental sector in the broad sense.

The research domain “Administrative Sciences”  address topics related to the management and marketing of public and non-governmental organisations, urban management and marketing, public governance, the organization and functioning of public administration, the relationships of public administration with citizens and the business environment, the process of formulating and evaluating public policies, public decision-making, the reform of the public function and human resource management, administrative-territorial reforms, and intergovernmental relations, as well as the role and functions of the government and its degree of involvement in the economy, which implies deeper reflections on the transformation of the state and its role in the context of European and even global governance.
