Doctoral studies represent the third cycle of higher education offered by ASE-IOSUD, allowing the acquisition of a level 8 qualification within the European Qualifications Framework and the National Qualifications Framework.
The Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) is classified as a university of advanced research and education and is accredited by the Ministry of Education and Research as an Institution Organizing Doctoral Studies (IOSUD), through Order no. 5775 of 14.12.2021, Order no. 6697/2024, and Ministry of Education and Research Order no. 3182/2025.
At ASE, doctoral studies are offered as either scientific (full-time – IF) or professional (part-time – IFR).
The scientific doctorate is an advanced form of research-based learning, contributing to the development of professional skills in specialized fields as well as transversal competencies. The scientific doctorate aims at producing original scientific knowledge with international relevance, based on scientific methods, and is a prerequisite for a professional career in higher education and research.
The professional doctorate aims to produce original knowledge based on the application of the scientific method, systematic reflection, or applied research on artistic creations, high-level national and international sports performance, or practically relevant topics, providing a foundation for a professional career in higher education and research in the respective fields.
Currently, ASE organizes 11 doctoral programs across 13 doctoral schools in the fundamental fields of Economic Sciences, Law, and Administrative Sciences:
